This project is focused on enhancing and optimising the planning and operational management of rail services.
This 46-month initiative, funded by the European Union, aims to reshape the landscape of rail services in Europe.
- Strategic Focus: The FP1-MOTIONAL project, in collaboration with partners like SISCOG, centres its efforts on enhancing the planning and operational management of rail services. The overarching goal is to optimise service offerings and make rail the primary choice for transportation.
- Future European Traffic Management System: The project's vision extends to developing a cutting-edge European Traffic Management System (TMS) that boasts interoperability, resilience, capacity adaptability, and seamless integration of all services. This ambitious goal is underpinned by a strategic embrace of digitalisation.
- Digital Advantage: Recognising the transformative potential of digitalisation, FP1-MOTIONAL aims to leverage it to its fullest extent. This entails tapping into digital capabilities to revolutionise the rail industry and enhance overall service delivery.
Drawing on its extensive expertise in resource planning and management optimisation, SISCOG is an affiliate partner by invitation from client NS, one of the project beneficiaries.
SISCOG is channelling its established proficiency in combinatorial optimisation into the generation of robust crew schedules and disruption management within the FP1-MOTIONAL project.
Ricardo Saldanha, SISCOG’s Head of Innovation, expresses that this project “is an excellent opportunity to combine theory and practice and develop innovative solutions that create conditions for enabling a more punctual and reliable train operation”.
